Marcel Frey – Plateau Parallesk

Galerie Thomas Fischer presents an exhibition by Marcel Frey in collaboration with STUDIO 4 BERLIN.

In the exhibition “Plateau Parallesk”, Marcel Frey deals with the question of what transforms the everyday into art. In his installations, Frey uses trivial objects that he minimally alters, robbing them of their function and aestheticizing them. Shelves are rearranged, coffee tables turned upside down, crystal bowls covered with black paint. A canvas is folded, sprayed with paint and again unfolded, so that it represents merely itself. Marcel Frey’s works refer back to themselves; they are not renderings of the world, but make their own processuality visible.
For the current exhibition, Marcel Frey allows a premodern influence and integrates a choice of ancient East Asian and Persian ceramics in collaboration with Anahita – Arts of Asia.

The exhibition is on view at STUDIO 4 BERLIN, Krumme Straße 35-36 in Berlin–Charlottenburg. Opening hours: Wed-Fri, 12-6 pm & Sat, 11 am-4 pm.
